What do you think it would happen if they did not print them? Everything would be fine and your USDs would be more valuable?

Remember when everyone said that if China dumped all its treasury holdings it would be catastrophic for the US dollar? Well, everything that China owns represents less than half of what the Fed monetized in the past 6 weeks. Welcome to the new normal 😂

Case 1 Fed doesn't print money like fools: Depression.
Case 2 Fed prints money like fools: Depression, worthless USD, lost credibility, New status as third world nation and all that implies.

What do you think is the effect of Fed support on diminishing the severity of the depression?
17mNxa3wLR3UpkxzBHkTQ1ynn6boQ3zGjY (2584) ·
Fed only makes things worse. They have bogus tools: 1. change interest rates and 2. print money. Printing money creates inflation, albeit there is a delay. Manipulating interest rates prevents/delays the corrective behavior of the free market.
1G7DLq695juhR7QFz5jn1AaXH55Hxn4kZS (1489) ·
So, the Fed printing money and buying bonds would increase or decrease the severity of a possible depression?
17mNxa3wLR3UpkxzBHkTQ1ynn6boQ3zGjY (2584) ·
Obviously increases the severity. Just like everything the Fed is buying , the bond market is turning to …. So it's really just more veiled printing of money.

I disagree, I think the sudden disappearance of credit and cash flows due to the pandemic would plunge the world in a much more painful crisis if it was not by the central banks injecting liquidity into the system.

Here's the endgame: USD loses so much buying power, due to money printing, that Fed can't buy debt or bail anyone out. Businesses can't transact in USD so neither can the Fed . Check and Mate ..depression happens whether anyone likes it or not.
1G7DLq695juhR7QFz5jn1AaXH55Hxn4kZS (1489) ·
This will happen if the inflationary measures outpace by a high degree the deflationary pressure of the credit and cash flows shrinkage.
But if the USD dies, it will be replaced, just like that. Cash is not a long term investment but it holds for daily use
17mNxa3wLR3UpkxzBHkTQ1ynn6boQ3zGjY (2584) ·
OK. But you seem to think money grows on trees. The Fed is not doing anything other than delaying things and taking a … on the USD. They certainly aren't making the problem smaller.
1G7DLq695juhR7QFz5jn1AaXH55Hxn4kZS (1489) ·
FIAT money grows on trees, and so does credit. Think that way, they would have to take a …, they could choose to do that on the head of people and companies or on the currency.
17mNxa3wLR3UpkxzBHkTQ1ynn6boQ3zGjY (2584) ·
… on the currency is … on everyone. Good businesses will fail too instead of just the ones that can't compete in a free market.
1G7DLq695juhR7QFz5jn1AaXH55Hxn4kZS (1489) ·
It is where the damage can be least. Not printing money would be a total disaster.
1G7DLq695juhR7QFz5jn1AaXH55Hxn4kZS (1489) ·
I am not a fan of the system, though. I think the incentives on the credit creation are misplaced. This part of the system is responsible for crisis that push governments away from hard money.
17mNxa3wLR3UpkxzBHkTQ1ynn6boQ3zGjY (2584) ·
You drank the Kool Aid. Printing money is inflationary poison that doesn't discern between profitable and non-profitable businesses.
17mNxa3wLR3UpkxzBHkTQ1ynn6boQ3zGjY (2584) ·
Q: Why don't third world countries just reset their currencies successfully?
A: Because they lose all credibility in the world. No one wants to help them reset their currency because they are irresponsible and stupid.
1G7DLq695juhR7QFz5jn1AaXH55Hxn4kZS (1489) ·
I think you drank it. I am just pragmatic. I don't like the cusrrent system but after the … hit the vent that was the right thing to do. I am all for a better system. What happens is that credit gets out of control, no matter the money you use.
1G7DLq695juhR7QFz5jn1AaXH55Hxn4kZS (1489) ·
It is just too easy to keep unaware and quiet when the credit creates bubbles and then blame the evil fed because they only have the same set of tools always.
17mNxa3wLR3UpkxzBHkTQ1ynn6boQ3zGjY (2584) ·
Every fiat in history has failed due to governments printing money out of thin air. Credit out of hand is due to Fed screwing with interest rates. Economy shut down because govt shut it down on bad data. Are we seeing a theme here yet?
17nT6HNjnp8TcMcsN1Adb99HrcDA4MWc6g (2924) ·
What would you propose be the solution Randy? Would you reopen the economy now? I personally think we could see as much as 40% of small businesses not opening back up. Our economy is getting hammered right now.

There should never be any government meddling in the economy, with the occasional exception of international affairs. The market knows best and runs smoothest when it's not manipulated. The market can't evolve appropriately with constant manipulation...

..We are in the position we're in because of govt manipulation. Recessions and depressions are not natural in an unmanipulated market. Bubbles exist because of government acting as a central planner for the economy. The economy will crash if govt doesn't..

.. do anything, but it will crash even harder when it becomes absolutely inevitable. If the dollar becomes hyperinflated, then there will be nothing more that the government can do. It will be all out of cards, and that's when the super crash will come.
