why ?

Because it was never supposed to be a "thing". With cheap transactions fees utxo management isn't a problem. Unlike for BTC that have to play around with their utxos and group them together to save extra expenses.

The face behind EarthBucks has a related point or idea: by not automagically combining UTXO's it's possible to enhance privacy, especially when combining that approach with not recycling already used addresses and having lots of transaction volume in the blockchain.
