If my phone is connected through a satellite, why do I not have a network connection when not nearby a mast? Whatever they call GPS is simply triangulation. Pretty much all internet traffic runs through cables.

I don’t quite get your post, but fir GPS to work, satellites are not enough. You also need to “see” some ground antennas that measure difference in time on the ground and on satellites. Time goes more slow with the increase of gravity.

My point is that I doubt that my phone is connected to a satellite at all.
