People who support tyrants do so for a variety of reasons, fear being a major one. But besides fear there are also "positive" incentives. They get something out of their support. A lot of that is obviously "free stuff", programs, loans, DEI jobs etc. But then there's one that isn't that obvious and yet it is becoming clearer every day that it is extremely important: the tyrant allows his minions to feel like revolutionaries. The most striking example today are women and their relationship to the power elite: There is this unbearable, self-congratulatory, triumphant feeling of self-identifying as the vanguard of a revolution (Joy!) that does away with the old and opens the path to the utopia, where they expect to be in charge.
