People have different time preferences. Mine is pretty low.
I anticipate bitcoin will be more valuable in the future so I "invest"

You're proving my point. At this moment, more people are buying BSV to invest, and we aren't winning. We are in the outside lane with fresh legs and the front runners are stumbling so it's all looking great. Buying for the utility will show we won the day.

I agree with you-bitcoin HODL will never make bitcoin valuable. Untility is everything. I have been doing my part to generate at least 20- 30 transactions per week. Micro transactions don't add up to much but that is the point!!!

The inflection point will be when people who don't see or don't care about what you and I see are still buying BSV because they want to participate. These will be the people buying $2 worth of Bitcoin so they can twetch.

I agree, utility is part of what gives something value.
The relationship between supply and demand created by utility.
eg., a wrench has tons of utility, but is super cheap - but if you're the only one with a wrench and someone needs to undo a bolt....
