Would you oppose communism if it were fully opt-in/opt-out and could co-exist peacefully in the same jurisdiction as voluntaryist free markets?

Communism means that no one's denied the ability to create value by being denied access to capital. If opt-out means not using any commonly owned capital, of course you can opt-out. If it means stopping other people from using it, of course you can't. So??

Okay... So what all do you consider "commonly owned" capital? Is it possible that "commonly owned" capital is exclusive to one society who have contracted with each other and other communities simultaneously have other exclusive "commonly owned" capital?

Twetch ·

Sure yeah. You have to be practical about it, at some point. It's about relationship. Like, if everyone in one community has to work for another community where all they do is "commonly own" the fields the other community all have to work in for them-- no!

Then what, if anything, is not commonly owned? And can anyone decide they do not wish to participate and claim the capital they create as exclusively owned?

We're just talking about having enough of a commons that you can't starve people by denying them access to fundamental resources. it mostly isn't stuff people can create; it's stuff we all share, like fisheries and ore deposits and arable land and such. :)

I see. Unrefined and ungathered natural resources then, not capital. And how to deal with tragedy of the commons?
