Observation: People are stingy with their likes and comments on this platform (unless you're a well-known name in this sphere).

I want to say users are even decentivized from liking and commenting on other posts...

I don't hate the player or the game,
but I think that's how the ball is rolling.

I think the cost to ‘like’ a post is too high(i still like posts more often than I do comment). But it does incentivize discussion because it benefits op to have good thought points and even with a thoughtful reply you can score a like

Possibly there needs to be a ramp up mechanism inviting likes initially being cheap... Then overtime increase like prices to keep spam low?

It will pick up steam. A lot of new blood the last 60 days. They’re probably -50% on their BSV purchase. Their $0.10 per like is closer to $0.15 now.

In fact, responding to others' posts is one of the best ways to increase your reach on this platform and will be increasingly more valuable as the userbase grows.

It's not disincentivized. People aren't thinking through the implications of their actions. They see a cost and reject it out of hand when they shouldn't.

What they need to do is practice responding with quality responses, and using likes with intention.
