Now that the West is undeniably in the kind of decline that resembles a free-fall, the group of people who want to "save the West" is growing rapidly. This is no surprise and seems to be a rather reasonable reaction, except to those who have come to believe that civilizations go through the same cycle of birth and death as plants, animals and humans and that nothing can change that fact. Those who want to "save the West, unsurprisingly, don't take kindly to this view. They find it to be cowardice, negativity and fear-mongering. Only time will tell who is right, but we can ask and answer at least one question already that should give a good idea about what fate has in store for the West, whether it will be saved or perish like all civilizations before it: What is the West and what remains of its essence?

The very basis of the West is the idea derived from Christianity that EVERY human being has value (made in the image of God). This idea only seems common sense to us today because we haven't lived in pretty much the entire rest of human history where being a human being alone didn't mean you had any value at all. "Might is right" was the accepted way of looking at things most of the time. In other words, individualism is the cornerstone of the West. The individual has rights that - at least in theory - are respected and protected.
These rights imply private property (including weapons), freedom of speech, equality before the law, and that your group-identity isn't the deciding factor especially when it comes to positions of power
Whether or not you think the West can be saved, it is very hard to deny that the "soul"of the West has already died. Collectivism, censorship, and hiring based on group-identity are already the norm. Individual rights and freedom are largely perceived as selfish, dangerous and a "threat to democracy". The West is, for all intents and purposes, already dead. Those who dedicate themselves to saving it better bring a necromancer. The rest of us is probably well advised to focus their energy on something new, with like-mided people who share the believe in freedom and individual rights, instead of trying to save a sinking ship full of those who dispise them and their ideas.
