In Norway the private sector is performing massive layoffs to potentially survive. At the same time the municipalities are doing exactly ZERO layoffs as the municipalities are stating layoffs will only move the cost to the state.

The median income in Norway is $65K a year. So basically a lot of people who does absolutely no work in the municipalities the next months will be earning 100% salary and 100% pension of their salary.

This is exactly why I don’t like a massive employed state (or municipalities) and this arrogant behaviour that occurs in situations like this.

The hidden truth is that people who goes through a layoff gets 100% of their salary for 20 days (up to $65K yearly), then regular unemployment benefits (62.5% of up to $65K yearly) for maximum 2 years.
