I think the question is more about how to get started without having to build up the full protocol that makes it truly valuable.

I'd suggest starting with a simple upload of their annual archive, then later parsing the data in a useful way.

One thing that's important to understand about this dataset is that its value lies largely in being controlled by scientific bodies.

Additionally, it can be uploaded piecemeal, and with extensibility from the start... Think, images, DNA maps, etc.

Am saying this for some months. Cbif.org has an api where you can crawl new species observations, so you could create channels for species, countries and so on.

@matthew, @cbergmann, let’s build that protocol. I put $1500 into activating weatherSV channels. I’ll activate a species to get uploaded piecemeal. We can have world map to point to location of species maybe?

The problem with bsv is that it enables so many things to build that everybody able to do already has his project and a ton of projects he loves to start...

... If you are familiar with api, Javascript and datapay you can easily build a prototype. If not, it's not hard, but a big win to learn.
