I use obsidian to make connections and visualize them. Tags make finding files easier too.

i usually write threads in the Home stream which are private. you can link messages together by quoting them into new threads, and you even get a backlink as a notification message (hit the little url icon in the top right of any message to copy its url and paste it in).
you can also star any message to put it in the starred stream (which you can access from the navigation modal - middle button in the navbar)
memes work pretty similarly to tags, you can attach files, videos, images etc and use the share function in the mobile app to share into treechat
The most powerful feature of Obsidian is its pricing because that means user is committed to using it in exchange of getting value from the product.
