From my own mum’s experience with them, they also give you very painful tendons, muscle and joint pain and fatigue, which receded once she stopped them. I’m pretty certain they also contributed to dementia in a friend who was put on 2 statins simultaneously. Hormones are made from cholesterol, so treating hypothyroidism in older people is a better and safer target to stave off heart disease than lowering their cholesterol. This was a good book on the subject I read many years ago. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Great-Cholesterol-Dr-Malcolm-Kendrick/dp/1844546101/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1697487473&sr=8-1
