Mohrt:
Let’s clear up a few things regarding Teranode and Aerospike. Aerospike is a simple key-value store much like redis with an ~80% improvement over cost of ownership. Aerospike is just one component of Teranode: it manages the distribution/sharding of UTXO inputs and outputs across a local horizontally scaled group of instances for a node. The Teranode team could have easily used some other form of DB like Postgres, but they chose Aerospike for a number of good reasons. Aerospike has nothing to do with Blockchain tech per se, nor is it involved with things like synchronizing blocks between nodes. Comparing Aerospike to Blockchain functions and features is a little silly, it’s apples to oranges. Aerospike solves the problem of scaling a monolithic mempool by distributing it in an efficient way across node instances and readies Teranode for the future of massive blocks.
