moderation > curation > creation

Curation comes always first. If there is no curation is just chaos. Moderation is also curation.

yeah right, content is just like, doin stuff, & then curation is if you bother to think about whether some of the stuff is good for a context, but moderation adds a LOT of complexity to that, where the context is a constantly changing community feeling, moderation isn't easy at all & the web pays you $0.0000000 for doing it & that's one of the main problems atm imo

moderation is so difficult that there's sorta a new definition of "moderation" that doesn't even mean successfully moderating, it means like, being the person who semi-volunteered to "moderate" but you're basically just going to nuke trolls sometimes if we're lucky, so the moderator is this character who bursts in occasionally randomly & nukes a bunch of people, MOSTLY trolls, & has no consequences from the resulting drama

what is your definition of good moderation?

that's like asking what's a good relationship,, there's a lot to it, but i think it's more about agreement rather than being anything in particular, you need to be clear about what's supposed to happen & then it's possible to achieve the goal, if the goal is just "good conversation" then you'll find at the wrong moment that all along you hadn't agreed on what that meant
