There is a missing piece when it comes to this technology though, light field displays kind of suck. The best on the market atm gets the image reprojected into glass; however really it needs to reproject into the real world with any bright light source.

hmm maybe there is a light that everyone will have one day? or am I thinking about this incorrectly lol
So they way it's reprojected is basically a lot of individual screens that get recombined with an array of lenses to give the illusion of a 3D scene.
However imagine putting a phone torch or holding it up to a light and seeing the same thing...
