what is the knov gameplay loop?
Branch off from a comment and explore. Keep exploring until you find yourself back or connected to another knov thread- or even the same thread. This is like completing parts of the map in a metroidvania.
Also learning new concepts is like obtaining new tools or abilities for your character.
A great sub-genre of video games. It is a portmanteau of two famous video game franchises that began back in the 1980s, Metroid and Casltevania. A common feature of these games involves a sprawling game world with connected areas with many collectible weapons, items, and upgrades that players must gather as they proceed through the game. The label "metroidvania" was inspired by Super Metroid (1994) for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (1997) on the Sony Playstation. Both games were smash hits upon release and have only become more beloved by gamers over time.
I'm playing Metroid Dread right now. Good game, but a little too much like Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion for my taste. I wish the series would take more risks

This a fantastic dissection of the genre. They really nailed what made the original Super Metroid so beloved back in the day. I still go back and play it from time to time, it's that awesome.
