In that example, 2+2 does = 4, despite the fact that the conclusion doesn't follow from the supplied reasoning (it is a non-sequitur.)

A worthwhile addendum: Just because you have a poor methodology doesn't mean you must come to poor conclusions.

A conclusion can be true even if the method used to arrive at that conclusion is in error.

Example: 2+2=4 because Carl is a four letter word.
