@metamitya how much text can I fit on a message? Also what is hodlocker?
Replies
hodlocker is a social media app that allows you to lock coins to posts. for example on here you can upvote a post using sats, on hodlocker you lock coins to a post
What happenz if we end up locking all coins?
I doubt we would lock up all the bsv, but essentially the more coins that are locked, the more value the remaining coins have
although personally, btc is for hodling and locking, bsv is for using
We should be able to free to coins if the post is deleted by the owner.
I haven't actually used hodlocker, after using relayx and the many issues and scammers that had I wasn't interested in using his next one. I also prefer to be able to use bsv. that's the main pull to bsv - it's fast and cheap to use and has many utilities like Handcash, Haste Arcade, ChampionsTCG, 1SatOrdinals, Zoide and many many more
!flux @metamitya we should be able to send payments but rather than upvoting with BSV. Rather using Babbage identity mechanism to lockout bots for a zero spammers bots etc. Just an idea.
@metamitya @Brooz is the home thread steam also on the blockchain?
I don't believe so, I think anything you can upvote is onchain
yea only public streams are on chain. you can fit quite a lot of text into a message, but please don't, it can break our cache system (we'll be putting a limit on it soon). if you want to put larger text on chain for now the best way is to save it as a .txt file and then attach it with the paper clip icon rather than posting it into a msg
Then putting a lot of text on a single message at my home should not affect anything. Correct?
it will still effect performance if its a super large piece of text
The text has 2,186 characters (including spaces and punctuation).
that should prolly be ok
we're talking about like putting entire books in a message
I wanted just put a writing about a topic. Could Treechat be used like to protect a writing work on the blockchain? Similar to an intellectual property.
yes
@metamitya @arghzero when posting messages are some coins lock or used to pay network fees, etc?
treechat pays the fees to post
for messages up to 5MB
