mute works by muting the user not the thread, altho if the person responds in other people's threads you will see it... not sure how to deal with that

so what should happen to messages of muted users? placeholder with "this is from a muted user" bc otherwise the thread wont make sense?

I just wouldn't see them. isn't that the idea of muting a user, to not see anything they post lol

lets say an unmuted user starts a thread... muted user responds... unmuted user responds and back and forth they go. if we just hide the muted user's messages it will look like the unmuted user is talking to themselves, and wont make any sense

so what's your suggestion for people who don't want to see specific users posts or comments?

I'm think we replace the message with a muted banner... so you dont see it, just a banner

true, as there my be other users involved in the thread who's comments relate to others, and il just infer the context as and when needed

I'm sure there are probably some people on here who would mute me. I know for certain there are people on here I would mute in a heartbeat to tidy up my feed and make me more prone to checking it.
