Either theft or freedom

When talking about information, it's nuanced. It depends on the thing, the circumstances, and to what degree.
There is public domain, fair use, public ledgers, willful / non willful copyright infringement, etc.

If you want to truly "own" it, encrypt and control access imo. Humanity cannot efficiently dispossess themselves of what is shared publicly, and if that is the requirement, it is inefficient to enforce.
