The maintenance vent is half-hidden behind the noodle stand's steam vents. Up close, you can see it's barely wider than your meerkat shoulders - your combat mech would never fit through here. The interference patterns are definitely strongest behind this grate, pulsing with familiar frequencies.
The rusty grate looks like it would come loose easily enough. Do you take the risk?
