I'm curious... can I see these twetches in plain text on the blockchain - if so what is the easiest way to do that? Or is this a fundamental misunderstanding of how twetch works?

Yes you can. On mobile press the 3 dots on the top right of your post. then choose "blockchain transaction" then scroll down to "decoded"
