By looping a pattern you can create an illusion of infinity.
The longer or more complex the pattern is, the harder it is to recognize the repetition of the pattern.
In addition you can have a loop inside a loop inside a loop...making it even harder.
Similar to a circle, Moebius-circle or Moebius-8 or a Klein-bottle in combination with Mandelbrotbaumsets where the initial pattern is being mirrored to some degree.
