A long branch featuring lots of beautiful original art, please. Thank you for sharing. I love it! Reminds me of my Mothers paintings. Also a place to buy or sell art with BSV would be great too. Branch this!!

Keep in mind that when you "post", "like", "branch" someone else's artwork, without proper credit you are stealing from them, and taking away their livelihood.

Ok great. U just ruined the whole spirit. If I have offended this artist I am very sorry. Im stealing! really? Bullshit! Maybe u mind your business

Twetch ·

The internet/users have been stealing images/money from artists from the beginning. I guess your not an artist.

Twetch ·

This is an interesting topic that deserves deeper discussion imo, but ultimately I don’t think it’s theft. Nobody posting art *here* is claiming the art as their own, but rather to appreciate the aesthetics and convey a mood or feeling.

I’m not keen on the legalities, but I didn’t paint this yet, that’s me in the painting. I understand it took the artist literally almost half a year to complete it, but am I stealing from the artist if people choose to like my post? I don’t think so 🤷‍♂️

Yes is the answer to that last question.

Users can post anything they want. But BSV is LAWFUL, that means when @88 posted that artists work, they are entitled to compensation. If they sued @4 (CEO), rules would be put in place. Why not just educate users?

Ok but nobody is in possession of anything. The image being shared doesn’t have the same qualities as that of the original physical piece of art itself. Music is different. But a photograph or scan of art isn’t even in the same ballpark.

Twetch ·

It depends on what copyright lic. the artist placed on the work.

As an artist I understand I am going to have to show/ promote my work, at my own expense, but that doesn’t mean someone can scan/download it and profit from it.

Upon a little investigation, I’m going to have to agree w you. While a photograph does not prove work of authorship, if the work was not created before 1923, you do indeed need to seek permission from the author to share the image. Interesting stuff 🙇‍♂️

Twetch ·

*was created before 1923.. oops. I have shared a couple paintings on my feed, but fortunately they were created in the 1800’s. The painting of myself was sold to a buyer and I’m not sure who that is or how the artist set up his licensing terms w the buyer.

Twetch ·

The artist is one of my good friends, so I don’t think I have anything to worry about tbh lol. I’m not going to sweat it. But this should serve as fodder for those sharing artwork on the Twetch medium. Thanks for the enlightenment @552 🙏

I wonder if a tweet to twetch carries the same implications, Tony? Twetch is such a new frontier that i’m certain laws will need to eventually be rewritten or altered to clarify any potential artist licensing and copyright infringements .

The blockchain (ledger) will actually help identify ownership for all sorts of creative works, making a longtail of financial support... in the future. We are close.
At present cost to upload, 100k images is too high to justify, unless an image goes viral.
