I live in a place where > 1,750,000 people are currently forbidden from leaving their houses (with very few exceptions), on the basis that we have 34 active COVID cases. Total cases since all this started still under 4 digits (550). Excessive or not?

Ummm, yeah. Are you from Australia?
Covid is a scam. It's just a fancier way of saying the flu.
Yeah, Australia, where we are all malleable, unquestioning and compliant.
Yes, I just had a friend die from that “flu”, call it what you want, and yes the flu kills a lot of people each year. If common sense was the order of the day... So keep your distance around strangers, wear a mask in close quarters and shut the fuck up.
Sorry about your friend, but that doesn't change the situation where I'm at, which IMHO is a gross over-reaction. Also no need for the hostility.
It’s an over-reaction BECAUSE this pandemic (man made or natural) has been politicised, almost single-handedly by the dumbest person on the planet and now believed by millions. If that doesn’t make you a little hostile, nothing will.
Thanks
No. You take decisions for your life, I take decisions for mine. Understand the concept?
People die. Always. Part of life.
If you can't handle the risk of living feel free to move to a government isolation center.
Your rights end where mine start.
It was politicised by those who want to get rid of individual rights and you are playing right into their hands.
That's why there's an over-reaction.
Problem reaction solution.
There is no right to have everybody play along with other people's fears.
There is no right to force others to protect you from getting the sniffles, or heartbreak, or paranoia.
Take responsibility for your life and let others do the same.
I follow what's going on in Australia and life in Victoria sounds crazy. It's a pity the government took the guns from you guys. I listen regularly to the Crowhouse which is run by an Australian.

Well, regardless of how they died I'm sorry to hear that. How old was your friend?
I am being responsible for myself by socially distancing from selfish idiots like yourself. And it’s not out of fear, it’s fucking common sense!
I appreciate people distancing themselves from me because of their paranoia, that's perfect. That's their right.
The problem starts when they want everyone to enter their cult and do what they say.
Tiny tyrants everywhere.
I cld see Australia being used as "proof" that extreme lockdown measures work. AU would be the cherry-picked darling they parade around as why they need to take more freedom away from the ppl. Mayb they already are, I don't waste my time trying to keep up
I could see it too. It would take wilful omission of a whole range of relevant data, but that doesn't seem to stop anyone nowadays.
