Had a little debate with @4179 and @109 about saving, spending, adoption, and "moneyness".

Keep up the good work!
I saw the thumbnail and for a moment I thought TK was actually there the whole time!
The vastness off the discussion Is proof that fiat Is toast. Its properties are set in stone, constantly facing future deterioration against a fixed amount currency that is open to innovation and flexibility.
Good discussion. @4179 is confused on many points. In a free market, profit incentives will sort out the adoption of the best money. Evangelizing does nothing, perhaps even act as short term reverse signal that the money must be so bad it needs pitching.
Also, even conceding that evangelizing is to some degree needed. Who is this magical entity called 'we' that is to formulate strategy and sacrifice resources for the sake of strangers (spreading the word is costly)? 'For the greater good' argument.
None of us are fans of any kind of "we" declarations. We're all fans of letting individuals do what they want. Nobody should attempt to force or stop any particular effort, we're just analyzing whether we think various efforts are important or effective.
Yes, you made the correct altruism argument in the discussion. And if anyone wants to travel the world evangelizing, no one can of course stop that person.
I think it would be a good idea next time to have them steel man each others' arguments first.
His main point is that purely increasing the number of goods/services you can exchange for a money increases the value of that money period. Makes sense given that the value of money is based on the goods/services you can exchange for it in the future.
Ok, that's more reasonable. Saleableness is not only monetary properties, but increases with liquidity. One can however question the prioritization of spending scarce time and resources encouraging the adoption of a money already destined for adoption.
That's what all the bumper sticker talk was! ;-)
In this example “we” sounds a little like BlockStream et al.
