@4 You're right. Honestly, I’ve never understood the economic benefit of likes on Twetch. It feels like a tool used by social media platforms that failed us by valuing everything with likes, but not useful for a hyper efficient bitcoin economy.
This is a good take. I wonder if you will still feel this way when likes are instant. It's possible that the number of likes can be seen as a measure of value for a piece of information.
What do you mean by likes being instant? Why though? Also, the value of a piece of information could be in how often you see it showing up on your timeline, or perhaps a counter showing how many times it has been shared (like the branches counter).
We know what’s popular when certain memes show up like crazy on our feeds (Epstein, pepes, wojacks). Those spread through sharing, not through the likes they get.
What would be your economic cost to experiment by abandoning likes and instead only using methods of endorsement/approval that pushes information forward? It gets everyone paid to keep info moving that they like.
