Am I late to the party or am I alone in not liking the whole forced move to "keyless" on Handcash app?

Their market is not storage for large amounts obviously. Use simply cash for that.
I wasn't previously.
It just feels like an awful move to get away from cryptographic, non-custodial systems, and move to a centralized one from a security perspective.
If you're going to do that, why bother with a blockchain at all? Just use a database.
The important thing to decentralize is payment processing, not storage. Bitcoin doesn't dispose of the concept of banks
Are you serious?
You should absolutely decentralize storage. Decentralize payment processing. Decentralize all the things.
I don't know anyone at Handcash, their character, their finances, and trustworthiness. Why would I put my capital in their hands?
How would you propose to decentralize storage exactly? Keeping all your crypto on a physical hardware wallet? Sounds pretty centralized to me. The best solution is multisig / shared key solutions with entities that you entrust as partial custodians
Non-custodial storage, of course.
The very definition of decentralized storage.
I don't trust anyone else to custody my capital. If I did, i wouldn't use blockchains.
Not sure what exactly you have in mind by that but handcash only owns half of your key, and another company owns the other half. It's not perfect, but that's good enough for me to entrust amounts <$1000
