Knowledge is power. Nobody denies that. But besides meaning "you can inprove by gaining knowledge" it also means "you protect the power you have by keeping your knowledge from others". There is no reason to believe that those with a lot of power would share their knowledge with the people. On the contrary. They would keep it secret and invent all kinds of false explanations instead. We have no idea what knowledge our rulers have.

I'd differentiate between human rights and individual rights. I believe in individual rights, which are based on self-ownership. Knowing anything is most certainly not an individual right.
