!video knov is a very young tool and i am still learning as I build it and moderation is hard and so everything I am about to say is in flux and could change based on our experiences and my learning going forward but this reflects my current thinking

!video I believe that the American free speech political philosophy is one of the most important human achievements along with free markets and both are necessary for the most effective coordination of human activity and for the most effective protection of minority opinion and safety, even if it comes at the cost of sometimes listening to hurtful ideas

!video knovigator's whole premise is to use free speech and free markets to discover valuable knowledge. just as it does not make sense to me for bitcoin to unilaterally declare a block size it does not make sense, or is possible, for me to unilaterally declare topics off limits even if they are hurtful or painful (within legal limits)

!video my vision for knovigator is being able to see all viewpoints, all narratives priced and prioritized through the distributed judgement of knovigator users with the best versions of even heinous ideas priced so that smart people know where to focus their attention to identify them and most effectively counter them.
this cannot happen if they are banned upfront only to be granted the mystique of forbidden knowledge

!video this means that the public Knovigator stream will have some content that people do not wish to see and everyone must decide whether this colloseum of views is something they want to consume or participate in

!video that being said, I think Knov should provide the means for those who do not with to participate in a clash of good and bad ideas, or for those who don't want to hear certain painful topics, the means to experience Knovigator without having to

!video already every author is the admin of their own branch and can archive any message in that branch to hide it from others, ie. you are the moderator of your threads

!video while the public Knovigator stream will optimize for free speech and free markets users can create both public and private streams where they are the moderators and can curate as they see fit

!video because knov is still young it is missing basic things like muting, blocking, and reporting, and these will be provided. in the meantime please pm me if you'd like to report something

!video I am also thinking about how micropayments can be used to drive moderation and will be experimenting with that

!video As I mentioned, everything I just said is in flux. I am learning as I am building and my abstract philosophical beliefs are in tension with building product for a community of real people so will see how these tensions resolve themselves in the future
