Ito was forced to resign from MIT for allowing Epstein money to flow through Digital Garage into MITDCI which was primarily focused on BTC development. Bitcoin Core devs Wladimir van der Laan and Cory Fields are paid through MIT: https://tncpw.co/ba32056c

If this is the kind of thing you have to support your conspiracy theory, I must say it is very weak and you don't know what really happened, you are supposing. Michael Moore style, intriguing but highly speculative and uncertain.

Why is it weak?

You are assuming things based on raw data. You have some degree of a a financial link but that doesn't give you knowledge of what really happened. It may sound plausible and may even be true, but for you it is an assumption.

At the very least, there is a financial and personal conflict of interest to a degree that should have demanded recusal, in my opinion.

Could be, but the link is not very obvious nor very strong. You may be right, I am just saying it is a theory.

This is not a good look, for sure.
Which case do you think is more important for the direction of crypto/bitcoin? Kleiman v. Wright or Leibowitz v. IFinex??

I think Kleiman v Wright is one of the most significant cases in the history of anything. iFinex will end up being a bombshell, at some point too, but it has different implications, and it’s part of a bigger tangled mess.

Agreed. Isn’t it setting up the legal basis?

Yes, various levels of legal precedent.

Agreed. I can’t determine if the market has been just been ignoring iFinex but it smells Mt. Gox 2.0. While bitcoin, in isolation, operates without trusting third parties, some of ”our” old problems are brought to the dance.

I’m interested in the angle that the Panama Papers played in iFinex. It speaks to hiding entity structure. My gut says ifinex plays out in civil. However, without a raid or cooperation through a criminal investigation, civil discovery will = joke, itc.

In Kleiman, there is too much smoke for there not to be some Satoshi fire.

It strikes me that if one is going to buy or hold a crippled BTC, with Lightning not doing much, at prices over $9k and these two cases and their facts dangled in the balance, then that person is going to bed with a lot of make believe in their head. JMHO.
