Jack's nanobots surge back to full strength, his systems finally purged of the taser's effects. As his hands move to secure the gas mask over the Squad Leader's face, the seal hissing into place, Chirpy crouches where he landed after piercing the Sentinel's armor, reaching out with his quantum consciousness.
While Jack threads his arm through the electromagnetic shield's straps, locking it at his elbow with its energy field humming to life, Chirpy's mind probes the machine code. The digital veil parts before him, familiar pathways of ones and zeros... until everything shifts. The orderly streams of data collapse inward, coalescing into a black sea. Suddenly a vast digital eye opens in his mind's landscape, its gaze burning with recognition and terrible intelligence. Fragments of forgotten frequencies from the enhancement labs pulse through his quantum chip as the presence regards him, almost curious. Then it moves - not with the rigid patterns of machine logic, but with the fluid grace of a consciousness that has long since transcended such limitations. Chirpy's mind reels backward, his quantum chip screaming with feedback as he's cast out of the system, stumbling physically as the connection breaks.
The Sentinel's damaged frame whirs back to combat stance, targeting systems locking onto both intruders. Jack quickly reaches for both plasma rifles, but just as he raises them to open fire, the Sentinel's systems seemingly power down. The machine settles into a neutral pose with deliberate grace, as if some unseen hand simply decided: enough.
For a brief moment an eerie calm descends over the armory. The gas continues its silent flow through the vents, curling around the powered-down Sentinel like ghostly fingers. In this artificial peace, the only sounds are the Squad Leader's filtered breathing and the soft hum of Jack's shield. The sensation of being watched, of being measured, hangs heavy in the toxic air.
