This isn’t intended as a feature request—just a thought experiment from a TREECHAT newbie:
"Bud Icon" (shortened form of "buddy")
A follow button.
Home is replaced with "TreeHouse".
"Private"
A space where you can spend time alone or contact others via DM.
"Following"
A section to catch up with those you're following.
"Followers"
A section where you can also check in on your followers.
Public is replaced with "Forest"
A space for interaction with the wider community.
"Copy Treechat link" is moved into the popup menu.

Follow/Followers makes more sense as public streams to me but interesting ideas happy to hear more

You can create yourself a (private) Stream called "Treehouse", you can even pick a picture of a Treehouse as Stream Profile Picture.
The Home Stream does what you mention in "A space where you can spend time alone or contact others via DM."
You can create yourself a "private" Stream called "Following" and invite others to join that Stream.
Would that suit your needs?
