it was inevitable that most people were going to get it only once there was enough politicization of the lockdowns that we couldn't contain community spread & then enough antivax politicization that there was no chance we could get to herd immunity through vaccination, w/o that politicization there was totally a route where we lockdown while we make vaccines & then properly vaccinate & there's no mass death at any point, the mass death was optional, & will be to our eternal shame as a world "civilization", one in a huge list of random destructive things we did before we had any collective self awareness
