When industrious successful people are invited to speak at a BSV conference, it's not a good idea to mob them so hard they have to publicly disavow you.

He literally said he was going to the conference and one the things he planned to say was, “we will not nor will we ever use BSV”. Wikipedia will end up getting replaced by a better version that doesn’t beg for donations.

"Zero chance." A man of such caliber should know word means the same as action as he runs the biggest word weighted data in the world.

What's the evidence that he publicly disavowed BSV only because of the reaction he got (to the reactions he gave)?

I don't believe he was very well aligned with the BSV vision prior to the announcement of his talk, and may have even been anti-BSV already.

He makes it very clear on his Twitter: “I do not support BSV”, accepting tips in BSV “sounds like a terrible idea”, and “we will not nor will we ever use BSV”. Why would they ask this guy to come speak?

As far as I know, those statements came after the announcement...

But I do think it's odd that he's on the speaker list.

Those statements show how he really feels which means he shouldn’t have ever been selected. There are way better options.

I certainly agree with that.

But I also know things like this are hard, and when moving quickly to organize such events, sometimes miscommunications happen. It's hard to determine a man's values without investing time and energy to get to know him.

there was more excitement than hate for him attending cg.
