We could implement followers / following whenever. The question is whether or not we want following to be on chain. If it's on chain, it becomes a much more complex problem. If it's not on chain, well, then it's not very Twetch is it?

Flip the script and implement a new algorithm tying your interactions closer together without identifying followers. Now is the time to experiment.
Until you solve the problem, I think it's strategic to do it off chain for now.
There are almost 2000 users on twetch at this moment and it getting to much to follow all. If you want people with other legit interests you must allow affinity segregation.
Add a search bar. To search user names or content. I'm no developer but this sounds like an easier task.
