humans seem to have clung to forensics, studying that which is dead. Life, the constant movement is extremely difficult to study, much easier to fix things (including people - as widgets) for counting purposes. The lockdowns were a classic example, it's as though the machine stopped so that a major audit could be done.

such an audit on constantly moving atoms... is near impossible. Our tools are all geared for counting the dead. Forensic studies is where the money is, easy to predict from 'what was/has been' rather than chaotic unpredictable behaviour of the living.
