There is no higher level programming language than c++.

I took basic C++ in college and failed miserably my first time. I will tell you that although I later passed, I am not sure I have retained nearly anything.
I think it's hard to argue the objective superiority of one language over another except in extreme cases. Everything is a trade-off. I find Swift very easy to write and maintain but I wouldn't use it for embedded systems programming or a web app.
