How can we monetize RSS feeds with Bitcoin?
How can we monetize RSS feeds with Bitcoin?

Start with podcasts!
Any you sub to show in your feed with description and maybe 30 second preview. Must pay to listen to entire thing.
I would be totally down to pay ad-free episode by episode.
Doesn't Twetch do that? Isn't the @14518 essentially a monetized RSS feed?
service where I add articles to my "audiothat" queue, request goes out for readers to record it, when done it shows up as ready to listen.
(I spun up a pilot of this a few years back and was promising but I needed to hand it off to someone)

Can be tweaked, but uber-like market place for on-demand audio readings of text content for real-time small $
BSV would be the ideal payment platform and accounting system, not to store the audio files themselves
so the feed would only alert of viewers of the actual preview - not the full video?
The link in the RSS feed would take them to the preview, where from there they can optionally pay to watch the full?
It is, but funded altruistically by myself at the moment. I have some ideas to fix that but am curious of others' thoughts.
Does in-app text to voice not solve this?
You get likes as well....1 like pays for 4 posts so not that bad already! I am dying to see your ideas to make this better! Are you talking about a whole new platform or within Twetch?
How can we put them on bitcoin is better question. Why monetize 🤷‍♂️
either or!
They are dying because they cannot be monetized via any other mechanism than ads.
Not seeing this, but then I don’t subscribe for feeds that better suited to be twitter accounts
I'm thinking audio only feed - true podcast. Shows up in a feed and you can click play to hear first few secs, or pay to download it all.
Ever try listening to robot read anything longer than a few minutes? ;-)
Been thinking about this lately as well and agree w @2956 that podcasting is a good target... but do people still use RSS?
I love it, use it for news, podcatchers, etc. but it's been on the decline for yrs. Would people pay for a premium feed or content?
No
To RSS feeds
#1 People Don’t understand them
People paying for premium feed of content is what I’m betting on.
Simplify the RSS or make it more understandable- needs a revival
Do a “Man on the Street” interview and ask someone if they use an RSS feed? 🗳
My guess would be very low.
Agreed, the most avid users of RSS are people listening to podcasts or checking news feed apps where the content is fetched via RSS XML but the end-user doesn't know about it.
RSS is technology that was created for a low-bandwidth environment that no longer exists. Social media, webapps, and news aggregators have replaced RSS.
But there's still lots of services that require feeds from creators (Libsyn, iTunes) - opportunity?
Yes, this is where the value lies. How do we monetize this. Right now they have to insert ads, making the UX crappy.
Exactly
The trouble is, it's already very simple! It's even in the name haha. XML to structure an RSS 2.0 feed is easy and feed readers/podcatchers are plentiful.
I think there's bigger issues w/the decline of end-user RSS.
