The Holy Roman Empire was established much later, when Charlemagne was crowned "Emperor of the Romans" by Pope Leo III on Christmas Day, 800 CE. However, the term "Holy Roman Empire" (Sacrum Romanum Imperium) wasn't commonly used until the reign of Frederick Barbarossa in the 12th century.
