Hmm, maybe true, but maybe we can move beyond hashtags and use ML to analyze trends. Oh, I had been meaning to port this to build on Windows (don't have a Mac), and run against Twetches: https://github.com/auxon/twitter

Hmm... Interesting idea

See this video? https://youtu.be/QkvCzShHyVU

Now imagine the data on the backend processed over time using modern ML tools. The video gives you an idea of the kind of data that you’d be processing in real-time.

Seriously, this is low-hanging fruit.

now imagine adding proof of work to your words as reliable weights in the model

Right on. Tools like this will unlock a lot of potential. I started porting the code for this and found the build system was a huge pain, and it had references to OpenGL libs in the build that basically has to be totally replaced.

I wanted to see if I could get someone to try building it on OSX to see if it works and concentrate on the code to make it fetch Twetches and parse them instead of Tweets.

Or get a Mac. My dev laptop died a couple weeks ago. Need a new one.

A trending section should be implemented as fast as possible IMO. At the moment Twetch feels like an isolated bubble for new users, and there's not really a reason to stay... With trends they could more easily be part of a collective & feel at home.
