This high-speed photograph captured a nuclear explosion less than a one milisecond after detonation during the 1952 Tumbler-Snapper tests in Navada. Taken with a Rapatronic Camera, which had an incredibly short exposure time of just 10 nanoseconds.

At this moment, the fireball measured approx. 20 meteres and burned 3 times hotter than the surface of the Sun. While its appearance resembled a microscopic organism, it was photographed from a distance of seven miles.
