Hey, you know when you join a new social network & it's friendly & it's a clean design with no ads like this, you know how usually you feel like-- well, this'll be nice while it lasts, but of course later they'll monetize and dirty it up? Not this time! :)

well, we were doing fine with chat systems in the 80's (someone had 8 land-lines wired to their home and a computer with 8 modems)
there were no ads, people were friendly (but also trolling was born)
then the internet came
yup yup! i dialed into a bbs back then with eightish lines sometimes, but mostly i ran my own bbs with just one line out of my parents' basement .. this does have a little bit of the flavor of back then :)
