i actually think that money will often prevent this kind of effect. there is a big difference with liking vs parting with money
my hope is that there is a small amount of money that is frictionless enough to spend to allow a value to flow through the system but significant enough to act as a quality filter
That's a good point. Little enough money that there can still be a meaningful spike on something that's worthwhile, but the penny-gap chops off most of the meaningless tail.
