Why is there a halving on BTC if that chain is not the real bitcoin? Won't the max number of coins be only applicable to BSV which is based on the original protocol?

The halvenings will continue on every fork.
You ask the right question.
For now - BTC pretends to still be BitCoin.
But if the halvening will threaten the existence of BTC,
those in charge might well perform changes to the protocol to soften the impact of the halvening.
