The greatest cancer in philosophy is relativism. It makes truth seeking impossible.

Everything is relative.

I don't think it is.

Words are so relative imo.

Do you believe nothing is absolute or objective?

Twetch ·

How is nothing relative?

Twetch ·

Nothing is relative too.

What is nothing, the absence of something?

If we have the word or mathematical symbol for it, it's not nothing any more. it's written or imagined so it can't be nothing even if it was before.

There are absolute points in the relativeness of space-time.

It's very debatable topic, many topics.

With our limited minds nothing can become absolute, but the change.

It's ok to be real and solid though.
If you have 1 wife, that's absolute and objective fact :)

I see your point. It's indeed hard to come to absolute truths with our perception. But there may still be value in making an honest attempt, else we can excuse everything and call it relativity. Ultimate relativity is solipsism.

Even though the Universe is mathematically relative, I think that as a person, it's a good trait to adopt absolute principles, and to live by them.
A person driven solely by relativism tends to be very labile imo.

Is it the focus, that narrows relativity?

Twetch ·

Perceptions may be relative, but morality is not. The golden rule, ”Do not do unto other as you would not have done unto you,” is a constant, no different than gravity.
