A while back @205 and I pontificated about resurrecting Namecoin for on-chain handles. Looks like Allegory is thinking along similar lines using Namecoin’s consensus rules
corrections - its "Simplified Name Verification" and its not actually merge mined, the consensus layer for the names sits at the light client level I believe
