My goal has always been to show people how to debate better.
This should help us relate better, so we can cooperate better. As I look around the world, I think it’s clear we need more people to do the same, or we will lose to the chaos.

In your opinion, what should be the purpose of a debate?
My take: to discover the truth about something. Not to "win" the debate no matter what, even in the face of evidence contrary to your opinion.
Debate should be both to learn and to teach. However, I would almost never engage in a public debate where I don’t know how to win.
most often debate serves to reassure oneself and those who already agree about the soundness of a given position, and to improve and propagate arguments that support it, rather than to convince those who disagree. change of views is infrequent.
