I am about to go all in on BSV app development.
I have experience in C++ and Java. What should I be focusing on as a beginner? BitCoin Script? JavaScript?
Also I want to get into Linux. What distribution do you recommend?

I have read most of unwriter's documentation and medium posts as a primer. I Just don't know where to start, I feel like there is some deeper understanding that I need to grasp first.
Find tools you can use to interact with the chain that you're comfortable with. With both C++ and Java you can create applications that interact directly with a node on regtest mode.
As for Linux distros, Ubuntu, Mint and Fedora are safe bets.
XUbuntu, don't install Arch, even for an experienced person it's not worth the headache.
