He does it for free all the time :) The truth is that it is very difficult to speculate on who Elon might want to talk to. He has people wishing they could talk to him...not the other way around. He might want to reach a large audience, perhaps. One with more rational thinkers than what Twitter provides. He might get information from twitter analytics, but I doubt he get's valuable information from the actual posts on that platform.
